Dr. Mousa A. Al-Abbadi
MD, FCAP, FIAC, CPHQ, CPE
Dr. Mousa A. Al-Abbadi finished medical school in 1986 from University of Jordan. He did one year of rotating internship at Jordan University Hospital. He joined the residency program in Pathology at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida in USA. He finished his residency training 1995 and became a diplomat of the American Board of Pathology in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology the same year.He did a year of fellowship in Cytopathology in the same institution in 1996 after which he received the certificate of American Board of Cytopathology.
Dr. Al-Abbadi went back to Jordan where he joined the faculty of School of Medicine of University of Jordan.He served as the Chief of Pathology and Residency program director at Jordan University hospital for 3 years followed by one year as staff pathologist in Jordan Hospital. In 2001 he moved to USA where he became a staff pathologist at the Department of Pathology of Wayne State University. In 2003, Dr. Al-Abbadi became a fellow of the International Academy of Cytopathology and received the certificate of the International Academy of Cytopathology board.
He became an Associate Professor in 2007 and then moved to hold the position of Chief of Pathology at the James H. Quillen Veteran Administration Hospital in Johnson City, an affiliate with East Tennessee State University. He became a Professor of pathology in 2008. He then moved to Saudi Arabia as a Professor of Pathology and Cytopathology at King Fahad Specialist Hospital – Dammam, Saudi Arabia. He recently joined the pathology team at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Al-Abbadi has an expertise in Cytopathology and in particularly the field of Fine Needle Aspiration. He is an active member of numerous national and international professional organizations, received teaching and leadership awards and published more than 85 publications in peer reviewed journals and is the Editor-in-Chief of “Salivary Gland Cytology: A color Atlas” that was published in 2011. In addition, Dr. Al-Abbadi is currently certified as CPHQ and CPE (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, Certified Physician Executive). He is currently a member for the working group to establish the Milan system for reporting salivary gland cytopathology.
