Certification Board of Infection Control & Epidemiology (CBIC)


An effective Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program is fundamental to the quality of health care because it carries the potential benefit of reducing the disease burden on patients, health institutions, and the nation.

In the last two decades, health care-associated infections have been recognized as a significant problem in terms of quality of care and cost to patients/clients and health care facilities. Consequently, all health care facilities are taking significant steps to improve the prevention and control of these health care-associated infections. Over the years, several initiatives have been carried out in the health sector to promote a safe environment and efficient and effective IPC practices in health care settings. These initiatives include the development of procedure manuals, guidelines, and other training materials; and training programs in various aspects of health care.

All healthcare facilities have a special team that are qualified for applying the best Infection Prevention and Control throughout their facilities. Here comes the role of getting certified as an infection control officer or practitioner. 

Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is a demanding certificate in the field of Infection Prevention and Control. Infection Preventionists (IPs) and other health care professionals can demonstrate a mastery of this knowledge by taking and passing a comprehensive examination developed by APIC ( Association for professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology) and the Certification assures the international recognition in Infection Prevention and Control field. 

The aim of this course is to develop the standardized basic knowledge, skills and abilities expected from professionals working in the field of infection prevention and control. At the end of the course, candidates will be able to apply for the CIC® examination and add more specialist profession in their professional career.
